The following color and black and white images have been included to provide a further look at the country and people. There are a few landscapes and market scenes, more views of the Bamian Buddha, panoramic views of Kabul, the Bamian Valley, Feydzabad and other locales. Historic sites at Kandahar, Qala Bist and Ghazni are also shown.

The color panoramas of Kabul show the city on a remarkable clear winter morning. I like to remember the city looking like this. Another of my favorites is the shot of the cobbler with the magazine page pinups outside his shop. The shot of the 19 boys with their teacher is another aspect of one of my favorites shown in the book.

My fondness for Afghanistan and the Afghan people grows each time I revisit these images. I hope viewers will enjoy these additional reminders of the Afghanistan of the era and continue to see the value in rebuilding Afghan society.
